Get to grips with the challenge
Explorer scouts take on the challenge over a period of time. During that time, they complete different challenges in 4 key areas: Physical, Skills, Expedition and Volunteering.

There are three levels to the Duke of Edinburgh's award. Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level has different requirements. The key differences are the length of time you need to spend completing each of the key areas (e.g. at Bronze level you can spend 3 months on the Physical area, whereas for Silver it's 6 months).
