Beavers Go Disney

posted 26 Jun 2011, 04:53 by Jonathan Chicken
This weekend, Beaver Scouts from 1st Houghton spent their first night in a tent as part of their Disney themed sleepover. Wall-E, Cinderella, Snow White, Jessie and many more Disney favourites were out in force as Beavers dressed for the occasion.

Having made a huge model castle, and prepared Cars for racing the Beavers and enjoyed their tea together, the Colony helped pitch tents in the woodland grounds at 1st Fatfield's Scout HQ in Washington.

Some rousing singing of the 'Beaver Song' around the campfire was finished off with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Bedtime was more tent time as excited Beaver Scouts took some time to settle to sleep.

Weary-but-happy volunteer leader Steve Gibson said, "The weekend has been excellent and beavers have enjoyed some great fun together outdoors. They've learned new skills, cooperated with each other and helped with running the weekend....I hope they've even learned how important sleep is!!"

Beaver Scouts are scouting's youngest section and provide adventure for girls and boys aged 6-8 years old. Sleepovers are part of the balanced programme offered at 1st Houghton where young people learn to explore the world around them and show an understanding of each others' needs.
