Responsible to: County Commissioner Kevin manages and supports the Scout District to ensure it runs safe and effectively and that Scouting within the District develops. He ensures that that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District. Volunteer as our district youth commissioner!Email: youth@hls-scouts.org.uk Responsible to: District Commissioner Dan is <25 and ensures HLS answers and delivers the ambitions, views and needs of its youth membership. Dan ensures the district's strategic aims, development plans and programme are shaped in partnership with young people. Jordan also manages the youth council (explorer scouts). District Explorer Scout Administrator: Matthew RidleyEmail: explorers@hls-scouts.org.ukResponsible to: District Explorer Scout Commissioner The district explorer scout administrator is responsible for providing administrative support to the explorer units across the district in addition to the district explorer scout commissioner. It’s a role involving communication, organisation and administrating; dotting the Is and crossing the Ts!
Appointments Secretary: Jane McIntyreResponsible to: Deputy District Commissioner Jane's role is essential in ensuring adults are suitably supported into their new appointments. She manages the local appointment's advisory committee and takes a lead on DBS checks and other introductory procedures. District Events Team: 30 brilliant volunteers!Email: events@hls-scouts.org.uk ![]() Responsible to: ADC (Programme) The events team is responsible for planning and delivery of district adventures for young people and adults in Houghton-le-Spring. The aim is to provide opportunities for young people that individual sections or groups aren't able to provide, such as big international experiences or festival-style camps. With each new event brings a smaller team from the wider events team to work in conjunction with section leaders to plan and deliver events. It's a cross-section task and finish approach.
